GREATER MAYWOOD RURAL COMMUNITY SERVICES,INC is revitalizing the former Sidney Center Elementary School as a COMMUNITY CENTER.
Our NEW SCHOOLHOUSE CENTER sits on nearly nine acres of land along Route 23 in the scenic Western Catskills. The school was built in 1954 in the rural Hamlet of Sidney Center (population 1,000) to educate children from the surrounding area.
The complex was updated and renovated in 2003 at a cost of nearly 3 million dollars, but decline of students in the area forced the school to close its doors in 2006. Greater Maywood reopened this pristine facility on a bright, sunny day in the summer of 2011!
